Random Thoughts on human nature

So this is a quick post, trying to avoid doing homework of course.  But this is something that I have thought on before, and I thought "why not put this on my blog".  So I will write my thoughts on human nature.

Humans are destructive.  Read whomever, believe whatever, but the fact is that humans are destructive.  We fight, kill, and destroy for whatever reason.  It is ingrained into our essence.  But that is not where the source of the problem is.

People who read this may also say "Ben, what about those that help, and give their money, time, and lives to help others.  There's Mother Theresa, Environmentalist, and that guy from extreme home makeover.  They don't destroy, they build, and help."  That is a very good point and it drives me to the root of the problem.  And yes, I include the good in with the bad.

The root of THE problem in the world is that we are human.  It is written somewhere in our DNA, and it encompasses every part of our lives, our soul, our existence.  What is it?  Our nature to want.

Now someone reading this is going to say "WHAT?!  You think our nature to want is bad?!"  No, I say, it is not bad, but it is the root of all of the world problems.  The reason behind it is that the nature to want is not among the human race, but each individual human.  Each person is ingrained to want, to want beyond themselves, and even to judge what one deserves.  And these forces acting against each other is a destructive force.

This nature to want has driven, the desire to survive, the desire for land, the desire for money, the desire to be better than we are, the desire to live a good life, the desire to be rewarded for our deeds, hell, the nature of want has given us desire.

Now, I am not immune to this, and am not pretending that I am.  I want, and desire as much as the next person.  But I believe that until we remove that desire, that want from our essence then we will be a destructive force.

This desire to want has really driven us to have to compete against one another.  There is no doing something just because it needs to be done.  The proof...  leave a undesirable action undone.  See what happens.  People work to get paid, people want accolades for accomplishing task, and single people accomplish household chores into order to have a suitable place to court a mate (Thumbs this way!).

How about the desire to have power.  Power over money, over industry, over people, over land, etc.  It all stems from this want.  No I want there to be a happy ending to this, so I will say that I hope that one day the world will be able to turn over a new leaf and not want anymore and just do.  Go, live, and be full of life.  Maybe one day when that happens, then there will be peace on earth.

Until then, I want you all to have a good day :-)

Peace out!
